Description

Japanese Calligraphy (Shodō - 書道) is the traditional art of writing, meaning "the way of writing." It's a disciplined, meditative practice where characters are formed with brush and ink on paper, emphasizing aesthetics, harmony, balance, and the spirit in each stroke.

It focuses on mindfulness ("one stroke, one life") and the flow (Ki) of energy, rather than just legibility. Shodō has deep roots in Zen Buddhism and is about expressing individuality and the beauty of characters.
