Description
Satsuki Bonsai are miniature trees crafted from Satsuki Azaleas, highly prized in Japan. Their defining feature is their spectacular, diverse blooms from mid-May to mid-June, with a single tree often displaying multiple colors and patterns. They are excellent for bonsai due to their small leaves, compact growth, and tolerance for shaping.
The class is led by Master Suisho Nakayama, born in Yamato Takata, Nara Prefecture, Japan. At just 16 years old, he chose Satsuki Bonsai as his lifelong specialty, dedicating his entire career to his beloved Satsuki Azaleas. His esteemed career includes roles as Executive Director of the Japan Satsuki Association and Director of the Western Japan Satsuki Research Institute. He also serves as a Master/Lecturer for the Japan Bonsai Association, and has traveled extensively to share his profound knowledge and teachings of Satsuki Bonsai worldwide.
