Description

Aikido, a modern Japanese martial art, was created by Morihei Ueshiba in the 1920s and 1930s. It blends his extensive martial arts knowledge with his philosophy and spiritual beliefs.

The name "Aikido" itself signifies "the way of unifying with life energy" or "the way of harmonious spirit. " Ueshiba's core aim was to develop a self-defense art that would allow practitioners to protect themselves while simultaneously ensuring the safety of their attacker.

Aikido techniques are characterized by flowing, circular movements that redirect an opponent's momentum. These movements often lead to throws or joint locks that effectively neutralize an attack.

Training in Aikido encompasses both physical and mental disciplines. The physical aspect focuses on overall fitness and conditioning, alongside the mastery of specific techniques. Concurrently, mental training emphasizes the ability to maintain a relaxed state of mind and body, even when facing stressful or dangerous situations.
