Aikido Training

Discover the Harmonious Spirit of Aikido!

Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba between the 1920s and 1930s, synthesizing his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. Meaning "the way of unifying with life energy" or "the way of harmonious spirit," Ueshiba's goal was to create an art allowing practitioners to defend themselves while simultaneously protecting their attacker from injury.

It's a purely defensive martial art that emphasizes harmonizing with an opponent's force and unifying with your life energy. Aikido techniques involve entering and turning movements to redirect an opponent's momentum, culminating in throws or joint locks. Training encompasses both physical and mental aspects; physical training builds general fitness, conditioning, and specific techniques, while mental training focuses on relaxing the mind and body even in dangerous situations.
